Chevron, the company behind the Caltex brand of petroleum products and filling station services that has been in the country for 90 years, continues its partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in organizing the AmCham ScholaRUN. Last weekend, 3,367 runners—all employees of American Chamber of Commerce member-companies with 477 from Chevron—joined the fourth annual edition of the running event held at Bonifacio Global City.
Participants were grouped into three categories—the 3k, 5k and 10k categories—with all finishers receiving commemorative medals as reminders of their run with colleagues and friends. Janice Trinidad, Expatriate Assignee Counselor of Chevron Holdings, Inc., garnered third place in the 5k category and says, “it feels great to run for a good cause. I fully support this annual activity because I know it’s a privilege to help provide education for our country’s next generation of leaders.”
A charity event, the run generated over 1million pesos that will go to the program of American Chamber Foundation Philippines, Inc. (ACF) to support 100 scholars in their vocational and college level studies. And their support goes further. Numerous graduates who’ve benefited from the ACF program have since secured employment among the Chamber’s member-companies. Clearly, there were many winners for the day, both at the race, and because of it.
