Press Statement by Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., “New Technology and Features for the Honda City,” 2016:
Manila, 02 June 2016–Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda’s automobile business unit in the Philippines, gets premium feature upgrades for the New City variants to provide customers with an even better ownership experience for HCPI’s sole locally manufactured model. As the City remains as HCPI’s best selling model for years, HCPI constantly develops the vehicle to cater to their customers’ dynamic needs by providing the latest technology and innovation.
The New City VX and VX+ Variants are now incorporated with the New Honda Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system powered by Garmin. The new AVN system with CUBE User Interface receives major upgrades to maximize customer convenience for different driving situations. The innovative CUBE User Interface presents a high-tech 3D cubic view on the AVN, which may be easily controlled through a three-finger swiping gesture control. This conveniently allows users to switch between different functions by swiping left or right. The new AVN is now equipped with a class leading Capacitive Touch Display with wide view angle and Full Flat Panel, and is now powered by an ultra high-speed quad-core CPU.
To further promote safer driving, the new AVN system is now equipped with voice command, which gives users the ability to directly interact and talk to the system to activate navigation, phone, and media features. It may also be controlled by Smartphone Connectivity through the Bluetooth hands-free system, and the Auto+ Smartphone APP available for both Apple and Android Smartphones. The new AVN is also equipped with a Wi-Fi connection for wireless screen projection via MiraCast for selected Android Smartphones.
The new AVN system now consists of an easily customizable Widget Homepage design, which allows customers to create shortcuts for their more frequently used functions. The homepage setting may also be customized to preferred theme colors, which may be changed to Amber, Blue, Grey, or any selected photo.
Meanwhile, the City E CVT and E MT variants are now equipped with fog lights to provide higher visibility and added safety when driving around different environments.
Under the hood of the New City retains its 1.5 Liter i-VTEC engine mated to either a Manual Transmission or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology for optimal power engine and fuel efficiency. It is also equipped with the Eco Assist system, which features the ECON mode that controls the engine, drive-by-wire, transmission, and air-conditioning performance. Fuel efficient driving is detected once the eco-coaching eco lamp is lit.
