Them folks behind Caltex did a good and ironic thing again … left behind their cars and ran for three, five or ten kilometers to raise funds for underprivileged kids.
Press Statement by Chevron Philippines, “Chevron runs for underprivileged students in this year’s 6th ScholaRUN,” 2017:
Manila, 28 February 2017—Chevron Philippines once again partnered with American Chamber Foundation Philippines, Inc. (ACF) for the 6th AmCham ScholaRUN, which was held at the SM Mall of Asia last February 19, 2017.
The advocacy event, which aims to raise funds for 100 underprivileged but deserving Filipino students, was participated in by more than 3,000 runners – of which more than 200 were Chevron employees and another 3,000 more from American Chamber of Commerce member-company delegates.
Since its launch in 2013, ACF’s ScholaRUN has been helping numerous students fulfill their dreams and realize their full potential through education opportunities. Graduates of the program excel in their chosen fields, both locally and abroad.
CPI Country Chairman Pete Morris shares, “It is with utmost pleasure that we once again partner with the AmCham Foundation for this year’s ScholaRUN. As a firm advocate of such causes, Chevron is able to strengthen its commitment in assisting the needs of underprivileged and deserving Filipinos.”
Besides a fun workout, finishers of the 3k, 5k and 10k categories each received a medal as a token for supporting this noble cause.
Mary Rose Rodriguez, who finished the 5k category, says: “It has always been a pleasure to be given the opportunity to run for a cause. Aside from promoting a healthy lifestyle, ScholaRUN allows me to contribute to national development in my own simple way.”
