Unlike the vintage original with its rear-mounted-engine and rear-wheel-drive, the new Beetle is up front about things … a water-cooled engine all grown up in a larger, more conventional front compartment, but still with the efficient front-wheel-drive transaxle for that new normal driving feel.
See for yourself, get under the hood or behind the wheel of the new Beetle and other VW models at the SM Mall of Asia Complex this weekend where Volkswagen joins an auto show and a test drive fest that run until Sunday, April 23.
<SOURCE> Press Statement by Volkswagen Philippines, “Volkswagen PH offers display units, test drives at 2 auto shows at SM MOA Complex,” 2017:
Volkswagen Philippines, the number one European car brand in the country, makes two big follow-ups to its success at the recently concluded 13th Manila International Auto Show by participating in two upcoming motoring events on April 20 to 23 in Pasay City: the Auto Focus Multi-Brand Test Drive Festival at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds along Seaside Avenue and at the TransSportShow at the SMX Convention Center.
At the Auto Focus Multi-Brand Summer Test Drive Festival, which opens from 11 am to 9 pm, Volkswagen Philippines will display the all-new 5-seater Tiguan compact SUV powered by a 1.4-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-charged stratified injection (TSI) engine with BlueMotion Technology that generates a maximum output of 150 Ps at 5,000 rpm – 6,000 rpm and torque of up to 250 Nm at 1,500 rpm – 3500 rpm, all coming from a compact, fuel-efficient Euro 6 emission-compliant engine mated to a 6-speed direct shift gear (DSG) transmission. This SUV is laden with safety features, most notably the 7 airbags, including a knee airbag for the driver, the ISOFIX child seats’ anchorage points, and the Electronic Stabilisation Program with the driver steering recommendation.
Volkswagen Philippines will also offer to the public the chance to test drive a variety of its world-class, German-engineered vehicles such as the iconic Beetle (powered by the twin-charged 1.4 TSI engine and 7-speed DSG transmission system that generates 160 Ps of power), the Polo Sedan and Hatchback (both powered by the 1.6-liter MPI gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed AT that generates 105 Ps of power and a maximum torque of 153 Nm), and the 7-seater Touran MPV (powered by the 2.0-liter TDI engine mated to the 6-speed DSG that generates 110 ps of power and 280 Nm of torque).
At the TransSportShow, which opens from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Volkswagen Philippines will display its iconic Beetle in a much more modern twist with the Club Edition, an enhancement that complements the twin-charged 1.4 TSI engine and 7-speed DSG transmission system that generates 160 Ps of power. The Club Edition package includes leather upholstery; touch-screen multimedia radio with navigation and mirror link; front and rear sensors; and hyper black alloy wheels.
There is something for everyone visiting the Volkswagen Philippines’ exhibit areas at the Auto Focus Multi-Brand Festival and at the TransSportShow. Apart from the special financing deals for buyers of Volkswagen vehicles, there will also be Volkswagen premium items. Visitors who bring in their families get to receive treats from Wolfi, the Volkswagen mascot who will entertain and give fun to the kids.
Through the Auto Focus Multi-Brand Festival and TransSportShow, Volkswagen Philippines puts on much more than a display and test drive—it places in the best light the practicality, the value, and the creativity of German automotive craftsmanship, engineering, and design. With Volkswagen, It’s More Than Just a Car.
