The successful Fuel Your School program of Caltex brand marketer Chevron Philippines is set for its next iteration, this time to benefit public high schools in the Bicol region. From July 1 to August 31, Chevron will donate one peso for every liter of fuel purchased at 22 Caltex filling stations in Bicol. Under this fuel-to-donate program, they intend to raise PhP 3 million to fund the improvement of schools’ science, technology, engineering and mathematics (or STEM) teaching facilities.

At the official signing of the memorandum of agreement are (left to right): American Chamber Foundation Director and Internal Auditor Roberts Sears; Southern Cross Distributors, Inc. Chairman Jose Mari Delgado; Chevron Philippines Country Manager Peter Morris; Department of Education Region V Asst. Regional Director Tolentino Aquino; and Chevorn Philippines Manager for Policy, Government and Public Affairs Atty. Raissa Bautista

The memorandum of agreement has already been signed, bringing together Chevron Philippines, the Department of Education (DepEd), the Amercian Chamber Foundation, and Southern Cross Distributors, Inc. for this initiative. The DepEd will select Bicol’s public high schools which have the most critical need for assistance and will have them submit project proposals for funding. The American Chamber Foundation is tasked with screening these projects and with acquiring the equipment for qualified entries. Southern Cross, Chevron’s pioneering distribution partner for the Bicol region, will help fund the Fuel Your School program and will promote it in the localities of the 22 participating Caltex stations.

Chevron figures that this year, more than ever, schools across the country will be needing more equipment as the first batch of students enter the new grade 12 level under the K-12 education system.
